We are excited to announce our first fundraising event. Break The Silence has been in the works since Mid-June after a previously planned event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since, we have considered postponing the event but, after much debate, have decided to move forward with the event. As providers, we understand the need for safety during these uncertain times. That is why this event is primarily an outdoor event. Masks and social distancing are highly encouraged and areas will be frequently cleaned.

As behavioral health providers, we strongly believe that it is important to find a balance between benefit and risk. While COVID-19 has widespread impacts throughout our communities, it has also had a large impact on behavioral health. With the closure of schools and public gathering places, self-quarantine, and uncertainty, suicides, substance abuse and dependencies, and psychiatric disorders are on the rise. At what point do we as a community say enough is enough? As social workers and substance abuse clinicians, we have said enough is enough.

This event is a socially responsible event that will allow the community to come together in the name of improving our community’s well-being. Additionally, all proceeds raised during the event will be put towards providing treatment grants, developing treatment programs, and education and prevention programs.

Everyone throughout the communities we serve, regardless of age, are welcome to attend. There is enough space for everyone since the event is being held within the outdoor space of the Phoenix Center. There are activities for everyone, including guest speakers, a bean bag tournament, live music, and a bounce house for the children.

We sincerely hope that you will join us in supporting our community. In the meantime, please consider supporting the Foundation’s mission by purchasing an event T-shirt, registering for the Bean Bag Tournament, or registering as a volunteer for the event.
